Introducing Shawn Stewart!

Originally from Tennessee, Shawn made Lexington his home in September 2021 when he joined the Gatton College as an academic advisor. He has been a dedicated advisor for two academic years and is all set to embark on his third year. Before joining the University of Kentucky, Shawn worked at a non-profit organization, providing college and career advisory services to high school students in Northeast Tennessee. This experience fueled his passion for helping others and led him to his role as an academic advisor, which fits his personality perfectly.

Shawn's educational journey includes an undergraduate degree in Human Services with a minor in Psychology from East Tennessee State University, where he also obtained his graduate degree in Counseling. With a strong desire to make a positive impact on others' lives, he finds his role as an academic advisor both fulfilling and rewarding.

What Shawn loves most about Gatton/Gatton students is the diverse group of students he advises. Each student has their own unique personality, interests, and career plans, and he finds it exciting to be a part of their journey and support them whenever needed. Being a part of the undergraduate students' growth and development in Gatton is truly a fulfilling job for Shawn.

Here's a fun fact about Shawn's family that any football fans out there would enjoy: His uncle used to play in the NFL for the Jacksonville Jaguars and then for the Detroit Lions. Sporting excellence clearly runs in the family!
