Peter Trager MBA

Lecturer

After graduating from the University of Michigan with his MBA in Finance in 1989, Peter has spent the past 30 years working exclusively in Foreign Exchange for various Money Center Banks and Broker/Dealers as a Trader and Trading Manager. Peter began his FX career at Chase Manhattan Bank where he started up their Emerging Markets Desk and then went on to be named the Global Head of Trading at BankBoston/Fleet. He was then Chief Dealer at AIG and witnessed the collapse of the Capital Markets Division of that company with the 2008 crisis. Following that, Peter became Head of Emerging Markets Trading at MF Global, living through the collapse of that firm, as well, in 2010. Peter then moved over to the Sales Side where he built an Indian Rupee Sales/Trading business and is now at Edgewater Markets in a Sales/Trading role. In tandem with his FX career, Peter has taught International Finance and Macro Economics as an Adjunct Professor to both Undergraduate and MBA students in the Metropolitan New York City area.
In 2019, Peter took on a full-time Lecturer role at Middle Tennessee State University in the Finance and Economics Department of the Jones College of Business. Peter taught both Undergraduate and MBA classes including Principals of Corporate Finance, Financial Systems and The Economy & Managerial Finance. Peter was also the Faculty Advisor to the Investment Club, a member of the Career Advisors Committee, and oversaw the program matching up professors with real world work experience with interested students.
In August of 2020, Peter started at The Gatton College at The University of Kentucky as a Lecturer in the Department of Finance and Quantitative Methods as a Lecturer. Peter is currently teaching Corporate Finance, Investments as well as overseeing the University of Kentucky Stock Pitch Competition in addition to working with students in various extra-curricular programs related to The Capital Markets.
