Lexington’s fifth annual Global Entrepreneurship Week kicked off Monday, Nov. 16, evening with the Lexington Venture Club (LVC) announcing that the Central Kentucky entrepreneurial community created 280 new jobs and raised $50.6 million in capital funds in Fiscal Year 2015.
The University of Kentucky's Gatton College of Business and Economics recently welcomed Chairman of the Cato Institute’s Center for Monetary and Financial Alternatives John Allison. More than 200 students attended his talk, titled "The Philosophic Fight for the Future of America," in the college’s brand new Kincaid Auditorium.
“I always enjoy the opportunity to talk to bright young people who will be future leaders in our society,” said Allison. “I believe this information is very important to the quality of their lives and their children’s lives.”

Surrounded by family, friends and fellow alumni, three exceptional University of Kentucky Gatton College of Business & Economicsalumni — Joseph Wm. Foran (Dallas, Texas), Youguo Liang (Abu Dhabi, UAE), and Rebecca Barker Vest (Franklin, Tennessee) — were recently inducted into the Gatton Alumni Hall of Fame.
The Gatton College Alumni Hall of Fame recognizes Gatton alumni who have earned exceptional success in their careers and in their communities.
Brian R. Murtha, assistant professor of marketing and E. Vernon and William Smith Faculty Fellow at the University of Kentucky’s Gatton College of Business and Economics, was awarded the prestigious American Marketing Association’s Journal of Marketing’s 2015 Harold H. Maynard Award.
Renowned economist and philanthropist Dr. Bill Seale visited the Gatton College of Business and Economics for a tour of the new building site on Thursday, June 4. Dr. Seale and his wife, Marguerite Pelissier, was joined by Gatton College Dean David W. Blackwell, Senior Associate Dean Ken Troske, and Finance Senior Lecturer Wendy Liu.
Students from the University of Kentucky’s MBA program placed third in the business plan competition at Idea State U in Lexington this past weekend.
