Alex Johanns PhD, CPA
Assistant Professor
Alex Johanns earned his PhD from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2022. His research applies experimental methods and draws upon psychology theory to examine how situational factors and individual characteristics affect the judgments and behaviors of auditors and other audit stakeholders, focusing largely on auditors' exercise of professional skepticism and the impacts of technological innovation on the audit environment.
Prior to pursuing a PhD, Alex spent 10 years in the assurance practice at PwC in Austin, Texas. He received his bachelor's and master's degrees from the University of Texas at Austin and is a licensed CPA in Texas.
