The Gatton College of Business and Economics is proud to announce the results from the first University of Kentucky stock pitch competition. Funding partners, the Institute for the Study of Free Enterprise and Truist, the competition was open to all students enrolled full-time in undergraduate or master’s-level programs at the University of Kentucky. The faculty advisors of the Finance Society, the Economics Society, and the Wildcat Investment Club (Wendy Liu, Darshak Patel, and Will Gerken) jointly organized the competition.
On March 29, eight semi-finalist teams presented in front of a panel of experts (Laura Boison (BB&T), Richard Hunt (Koch Equity Development), and Geoff Rosenberger (Clover Capital Management, Inc.). Below are the winning teams and the stocks they pitched:
Division I (open class):
First place prize ($1,200): Tyler Harris and Eric Winkler (Buy - DDR)
Second place prize: ($800): Joseph Back, Tyler May, and Camden Booker (Buy - CVS)
Third place prize ($400): Morgan Bay, Nate Jewell, Phillip Ulm, and Andrew Wallace (Buy - Align)
Division II (freshmen and sophomores only)
Winner ($800): Connor McKee and Graham Sparks (Buy - Martin Marietta)
Honorable mention: Nick Harker, Grant Deaton, Clayton Stovall and Andrew Buskill (Sell - Tesla)
