Professor Olga Malkova, a 2nd year faculty member had a busy summer presenting her work in both Europe and the US. Presentations in Germany of her paper "The Effect of Pension Tax Reductions on Labor Supply," include the Center for European Economic Research (ZEW), Seminar in Labor and Welfare Economics (Mannheim, May 31st), the International Institute for Public Finance Doctoral School (Mannheim June 16th) and the Institute for Study of Labor (IZA) Junior/Senior Symposium (Bonn, July 12th) as well as in the United States at the IIPF Annual Congress (Lake Tahoe, NV, August 11th).

Raulla Allouch a 2002 BE Economics and 2006 UK Law graduate was featured in the Summer 2016 Kentucky Alumni magazine.  Ms. Allouch practices civil litigation in Cincinnati received the UK College of Law Community Service Alumni Award recently.

Carlos Lamarche presented “Sparsity-Based Estimation of a Panel Quantile Count Data Model with Applications to Big Data” (co-authored with M. Harding) at the 2016 China Econometrics Society Meeting on June 26, 2016 in Chengdu, China.

Carlos Lamarche visited the Southwestern University of Finance and Economics (SWUFE) in China from June 13 to June 24, 2016. He gave three introductory lectures and a seminar on Quantile Regression at the School of Public Administration.

Yoko Kusunoes has been awarded a 2016-2017 SEC Travel Grant. She will use the grant to work with a colleague at the University of Florida in January 2017.  This marks the second year in a row that a member of the Department of Economics has been awarded an SEC Travel Grant as Jenny Minier received a grant in 2015-16 to work with colleagues at Louisiana State University.

David Agrawal has recently presented his paper "Relocation of the Rich: Migration in Response to Top Tax Rate Changes from Spanish Reforms" at the Centre for European Economic Research (ZEW) in Mannheim, Germany, at the Universität Siegen in Siegen, Germany, and at the Swiss Economic Institute (KOF) at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) in Zürich, Switzerland.
