Jane Wells M.A.

Associate Professor

Jane Brown Wells is an Associate Professor in the Von Allmen School of Accountancy of the Gatton College of Business and Economics, and former Assistant Dean of Undergraduate Studies in the College. She received a Bachelor of Science in Accounting degree from the University of Kentucky in 1974 and a Master of Science in Accounting degree from the University of Kentucky in 1986. In 1986, she received the Peat, Marwick, Mitchell Co. award for the Outstanding Candidate for Master of Science in Accounting.
    Professor Wells has received numerous teaching awards at the University of Kentucky, including the Great Teacher Award (University of Kentucky Alumni Association) in 1994; the Chancellor's Award for Outstanding Teaching, Nontenured Faculty in 1994; Outstanding Accounting Teacher Award (Beta Alpha Psi) in 1988, 1994, 1997, 2005, 2008, 2011, and 2014; and Outstanding Teacher of the Year, College of Business and Economics (Beta Gamma Sigma) in 1989, 1993, 2002, and 2013. In November 2016 the Kentucky Society of CPAs awarded Professor Wells an Educator Who Made a Difference Award. Her teaching interests are in financial accounting and international financial accounting.

Prior to joining the faculty at the University of Kentucky, Professor Wells worked in public accounting for seven years. She is a past president of the Bluegrass Chapter of the Kentucky Society of CPAs and former member of the Board of Directors of the Kentucky Society of CPAs.
