Hoyt Begins 3-Year Term with American Economic Association

Gail Hoyt has begun serving a three-year term on the Committee on Economic Education for the American Economic Association. On Jan. 6, she led a virtual workshop on “Creating Interactive and Inclusive Lectures in Economics” for the association’s continuing education workshop, EDUCATE (Expanding Diversity in Undergraduate Classes with Advancements in the Teaching of Economics).

Over the coming year, Hoyt will be working as a mentor/facilitator for economics professors around the U.S. in an effort to make their classes more interactive and inclusive.

In addition, on Jan. 3 she presented in a panel entitled, “What Does Critical Thinking Mean in Teaching Economics: The Big and the Little of It” at the American Economic Association annual meeting.
