Nicole Thorne Jenkins Named Next Dean of McIntire School of Commerce at UVA

Gatton College Vice Dean, Nicole Thorne Jenkins has been named the John A. Griffin Dean of the McIntire School of Commerce at the University of Virginia, effective July 1, 2020.

During her tenure at the Gatton College, Jenkins has worked tirelessly to support and promote the college, faculty, staff, and students. She spearheaded the college’s strategic plan and designed and implemented a new college-wide financial reporting system. She also facilitated innovative ways for alumni engagement, fundraising, staff development, and faculty research.

“Nicole is a brilliant choice,” said Dean Simon Sheather. “This accomplishment is a great reflection on the outstanding performance that Nicole brought to the University of Kentucky and the Gatton College of Business and Economics. She is a transformational leader, mentor, and a friend who brings a diverse set of experiences to this deanship. Nicole has been an important voice and source of ideas and inspiration to the college, and I am confident that she will bring that same vision and skillset as dean of McIntire.”

Nicole joined the faculty at the University of Kentucky in 2012 and currently holds the Von Allmen Endowed Chair of Accountancy. In April 2016 she was named Executive Associate Dean, responsible for all operations of the Gatton College of Business and Economics. In January 2020, Nicole was named the Vice Dean of the college.
