Deanna Kolar PhD, JD
Dr. Kolar earned her Ph.D. from King's College University of London. She also holds a Juris Doctor degree from DePaul University College of Law and spent 8 years working for the State of Illinois. She first held a position in the Legal Division of the Illinois Liquor Control Commission and then served as a Judicial Law Clerk / Research Attorney for the Hon. Joseph N. Casciato for 5 years.
Before coming to the University of Kentucky in 2018, Deanna served as an Assistant Clinical Professor at Purdue University -Krannert School of Management for six years. At Purdue, she taught Human Resource Management, Labor Relations, International Human Resource Management and Organizational Behavior. She also managed the Human Capital Consulting Program for Graduate HR students and served as the Director of the Master of Human Resource Management Program at Krannert.
While pursuing her PhD, Dr. Kolar taught organizational behavior at King’s College and later joined IAE Aix-en-Provence Graduate School of Management in France where she instructed courses in International Legal Management and Leadership.
She gained corporate human resource experience working for the Hyundai Corporation and Borders Group Inc. Her areas of research include stigmatized professions, employee autonomy, job embeddedness and HR in volunteer organizations.
