Director of Gatton Global Initiatives
Summer has been passionate about international education for years and especially since studying abroad after her freshman year in Greece. She studied abroad twice as an undergraduate and once as a graduate student. Between her undergraduate and graduate degrees, Summer taught English language at a high school in Rennes, France for an academic year. She has more than 10 years of experience working in higher education and has been involved with international education for much of that time. Summer has taught courses at UK related to acclimating to college and intercultural business communication. She has served as the Director of Gatton Global Initiatives since 2015 and as an Academic Advisor in the Gatton College since 2013. Prior to her time in Gatton, Summer was an Education Abroad Advisor in the International Center at the University of Kentucky and a Study Abroad Advisor at Kennesaw State University. Her credentials include a MS.Ed in Higher Education Administration and a BA in Theatre, both from the University of Kansas. Summer remains active in NAFSA: The Association of International Educators professional organization, having presented at several state, regional, and national conferences.
