Senior Director of Philanthropy and Alumni Relations
Rich Brown joined the University of Kentucky and the Gatton College in May 2019. Prior to joining the college, he served as senior director of development for the Haslam College of Business at the University of Tennessee. As senior director, he worked to individually identify, cultivate and solicit major gift prospects while also leading his team’s major gift strategy efforts. In his time at UT, the college achieved significant increases in the number of donors and a high percentage of growth in the market value of their endowment.
Prior to his nine years working in development with the UT Foundation, Rich spent five years at Wells Fargo, moving from an entry-level sales position to a branch manager with oversight of eight team members. In addition to being a part of two capital campaigns while at UT, he also served in a volunteer capacity with three area nonprofit organizations, including as Fund Development Chair on the Board of Directors for Big Brothers Big Sisters of East Tennessee, where he planned and executed the first two capital campaigns in the agency’s 50-year history.
Rich earned his B.S. in business administration from Siena Heights University and his MBA from the University of Tennessee. He was named one of the Knoxville Business Journal’s “40 Under 40” honorees in 2016.
