The UK MBA case team placed 2nd in the recent 7th Annual SEC MBA Case Competition, which included current One Year MBA students Alexander Wilken, Jason Scarpa, Erika Penrose and William Lee Sanders. These graduate level competitions provide an opportunity for SEC business schools to showcase their students’ skills at solving simulated, real-world problems that cover the spectrum of business disciplines.

Mousa Ackall, alum of the One Year MBA program at the University of Kentucky's Gatton College of Business and Economics, is now the Director of Marketing at Knotel at their headquarters in New York City, New York. Knotel is an office space platform that designs, builds, and operates branded spaces for established and growing brands. With his MBA from Gatton, Mousa's career continues to advance and lead in the field of marketing.

Dr. Z. George Zhang, alum of the Professional MBA program at the University of Kentucky's Gatton College of Business and Economics, was recently promoted to Senior Director and General Manager of Valvoline China out of their Valvoline World Headquarters which is located in Lexington, Kentucky. George has been at Valvoline for almost 20 years and has used his MBA to continue to advance and lead for this industry leader. 

UK MBA alumni and University of Kentucky's College of Medicine fourth-year medical students, Kyle Taylor and Sean Butterbaugh, recently found out on Match Day where they will continue their medical education in their residency programs. The MBA program at the University of Kentucky’s Gatton College of Business and Economics increased their rankings by 22 and 44 spots in the recent 2020 U.S. News & World Report Best Business Schools rankings report, which surveyed 475 MBA programs accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business International.

Dr. Carol Steltenkamp, professor of pediatrics and alum of the Professional MBA program at the University of Kentucky' Gatton College of Business and Economics, has been appointed to External Chief Medical Officer at UK HealthCare. In this new role, Dr. Steltenkamp will represent the voices of clinicians in strategy, outreach and communications; and will be responsible for developing and maintaining strategic clinical alliances with physicians and health care organizations throughout the Commonwealth of Kentucky and beyond.

University of Kentucky's Pharmd/MBA dual degree alum, Anthony Marti, is now the Manager of Payor Strategy at Promius Pharma in Princeton, New Jersey. Promius Pharma designs personal and practical health care solutions. In Anthony's new role, he puts his MBA and pharmacy skills to work in planning, building and executing marketing campaigns, developing pricing and rebating strategies, managing vendor relations, and developing value story generation for Promius' medications.

University of Kentucky MBA alum and financial leader, Ben Buchanan, is currently the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) at US GreenFiber, LLC, the largest manufacturer of cellulose insulation in the nation, providing energy savings and cost effective insulation choices. In Ben's current role as CFO, he manages strategic initiatives while directly overseeing all finance, accounting, and technology activities. Although Ben has been a successful financial leader and private equity operator for the past 9 years, everything changed when the market crashed back in 2008. While working in investment banking, Ben realized that it was the opportune time to pivot his career and pursue Gatton's One Year MBA program.
