The Professional MBA brings together a diverse network of working professionals from various work experiences, companies, sectors and business units. While studying and engaging each other in a more traditional environment, the professional students have the opportunity to bring in their daily work responsbilities into the classroom and then immediately apply what they learn in the workplace the following day.
The Professional MBA program has working professionals from various industries such as engineering, law, healthcare, agriculture, manufacturing, technology, banking/finance, government, etc. Learning from experienced professors and your professional peers, you will advance and hone your leadership and managerial skills.
Admissions & Preparatory Courses
Before applying into the MBA program, please review the Admissions Requirements and updated GMAT/GRE Waiver Policy. Submitted applications are considered on a rollling admissions cycle, so it is strongly recommended in applying early into the program. The Fall application deadline for the Professional MBA program is July 1st (domestic candidates) and March 15th (international candidates). The Spring application deadline for the Professional MBA program is December 7th (domestic candidates) and August 15th (international candidates).
The MBA faculty assumes that all new students possess a profiency in basic accounting and economics. As a result, the following MBA Preparatory courses are required to be completed: Micro Economics, Macro Economics, Financial Accounting and Managerial Accounting. For all majors (except for Engineering, Finance and Mathematics) the following courses are also strongly recommended: Business Math & Statistics and Excel for MBA. After careful examination of each applicant's prior coursework, the MBA Admissions Committee will make specific recommendations concerning which courses (if any) will be required. The program recommends that all required MBA preparatory courses be satisfied by the application deadlines.
During the course of the year, MBA students at the University of Kentucky will have the opportunity to earn value-added professional certifications from one of several certifying institutions. The program offers certifications in Project Management, Green Belt in Lean Six Sigma and the Global Commerce and Strategy.

Designed around the busy schedule of the working professional, the part-time Professional MBA curriculum is offered in two different tracks: a two-year plan of study or a three-year plan of study. The Professional MBA consists of 12 core classes meeting just once a week in the evenings from 6:00pm – 8:30pm. All classes are currently offered between Monday and Wednesday of each week in the program.
