6:00pm – 8:30pm

Gatton 299

Course Overview:
This course is about “data”; how to gather it and how to make sense of it (i.e.turn it into “knowledge”). We will focus on understanding data relevant to marketers. This includes the types available, and methods of collection and analysis. Course participants will learn to define a marketing research goal, create an effective measurement instrument (e.g., survey, experiments), and rigorously analyze the resulting information. We will focus on how the marketing research process is carried out conceptually and practically. The main sections of this course include the following: problem definition, research design, measurement and data collection, data analysis and reporting. After you have completed this class, you should be able to collect and analyze data. Just as important, you should be able to understand and critique research results presented by others. Each of these objectives is aimed at providing valuable skills that will be useful in your career.
