Kristine Hankins joined the University of Kentucky in 2006 after graduating with a Ph.D. in Finance from the University of Florida. At UK, she is an assistant professor and holds the E. Vernon and William Smith Faculty Fellowship.
Kristine's research interests include corporate finance, risk management, capital structure, and payout policy. She has published in the Journal of Financial Economics, Review of Financial Studies, Management Science, Journal of Corporate Finance, and Financial Management. She also won the 2012 Jensen Prize (2nd place) for the best corporate finance paper in the Journal of Financial Economics.
Prior to her academic career, Kristine held positions with Merrill Lynch's Private Equity Group and PricewaterhouseCoopers' Financial Securities Litigation practice, both in New York City. She graduated with honors from the University of Chicago with a B.A. in Political Science and holds a M.S. in Statistics from Rutgers University.
