We had our best luck today to encounter a pair of grizzly bears, the only time in our entire trip, roaming near the Many Glacier Entrance. After watching them for a while, a handsome park police came to make an annoucement. He said these two bears were too naughty, he will have to teach them a lesson not to come close to the road by shooting into the sky. It was quite an entertainment to shout at the bears while he fired his gun. After the second shot, the bears gradually disappeared into the grasses. The hiking to the iceberg lake itself is perhaps more rewarding than the lake in the end. We enjoyed our absolute solitude and a stuning display of wild flowers: white bear grass, yellow glacier water lilies, red indian paint brushes, and etc. We believe we were the last group to arrive and leave the iceberg lake that day.
