Joy Gilfillan, Joseph Back, and Tyler May, finance seniors from the Gatton College participated and won this years national stock pitch competition, hosted by the Terry Business College within the University of Georgia. The previous students participated within the Fall 2017, Finance 485 pitch competition, moving on to represent the class within the national competition which accepted submissions from over 40 private and public universities throughout the US.

The CFA Research Challenge Team won the 10th Annual CFA Society Louisville Research Challenge held on February 7, 2018 against a field of local colleges such as University of Louisville and Indiana. The team consists of Gatton students: Joseph Back, Camden Booker, Tyler Harris and Kevin Short. The team was also assisted by industry mentor Jeff Thomison. The team will next compete at the CFA Americas (winning teams from other CFA chapters in North and South America) in Boston, MA on March 19-20, 2018.


January 29, 2018

Congratulations to Leo Li, David Rubenstein, Eric Winkler for passing Level I of the CFA exam. This exam is the first step in earning the Chartered Financial Analyst® (CFA) credential, the most respected and recognized investment management designation in the world. This exam has only a 43% pass rate. All three students were awarded scholarships through Gatton to take the exam.

The Gatton College of Business and Economics is proud to announce the first University of Kentucky stock pitch competition in spring 2018. This event provides an opportunity for students to carry out creative, value-added research in stock investing and to obtain real-world insights about business. Special thanks to funding partners, Truist and the Institute for the Study of Free Enterprise, the competition is open to all students enrolled full-time in undergraduate or master’s-level programs at the University of Kentucky.

The Pelissier Scholarship and NYC Trip Application for 2018 is now open through January 26, 2018. The visit will be in New York City from May 16, 2018 to May 24, 2018. Visits to Goldman Sachs, JP Morgan, Morgan Stanley, Credit Suisse, Deutsche Bank, KKR, Mizuho, Redburn, NYSE and other firms will be scheduled during the period. Visits will vary in length from one to three hours and occasionally may exceed three hours. Evening visits may be scheduled. A faculty member will be leading the trip.
