Douglas J. Von Allmen is the chairman of Von Allmen Capital Partners, which consists of a group of individuals who purchase middle market privately held businesses. He graduated with a B.S. in accounting with highest honors. Upon graduation, he became a public accountant with KPMG Peat Marwick. Mr. Von Allmen has made leveraged acquisitions of businesses for himself and his partners since 1977. In recent years, he sold some of these holdings, including a chain of 350 sunglass stores that was merged with Sunglass Hut International. The School of Accountancy and the Center for Entrepreneurship at the University of Kentucky have been named in honor of the Von Allmen family.
