UK MBA spotlights Deloitte Consulting in hiring many talented graduates from the program

Evan Market and Amanda Tenney University of Kentucky's Gatton College of Business and Economics would like to spotlight Deloitte Consulting for their continuous support in hiring many graduates from Gatton's One Year MBA program. Deloitte, among many other companies and organizations, partner with Gatton's Graham Office of Career Management team. The Graham Office is dedicated to assisting students in their career development process and employment success by working closely with employers who seek to hire Gatton's talent.

UK MBA alum, Amanda Tenney and Evan Marker (pictured), are recent hires of Deloitte Consulting and both graduated from Gatton's One Year MBA program. Amanda has been recently promoted at Deloitte to Project Delivery Senior Analyst where she supports the training and change management efforts for implementations of technical solutions in Frankfort, KY. Amanda works on a team to plan, develop and deliver training materials, communications, and post-implementation activities for clients. Evan is currently a Human Capital Analyst assigned to the Project Management Office (PMO), where he manages risks, issues, action items, and decisions across a program involving 500+people. Evan works closely with clients and Deloitte executives to make sure key decisions, risks and issues are being documented accurately and tracked appropriately.

"The UK MBA program prepared me to work in a team-oriented environment," says Amanda Tenney. "During the program, there was a large emphasis on collaboration through classroom group projects and Project Connect. I was able to work with people with various skillsets and experiences; and learned how to leverage each person’s skillset throughout team projects."

Evan says, "The project management and lean training I received as part of my MBA experience are most relevant to my current role. From a lean perspective, I am always thinking about how to improve and simplify processes by making them more repeatable with less errors and defects. From a project management perspective, I am working with my managers who have PMP’s to make our project management team more effective and comply with PMBOK standards."

Kevin Pollari is currently the Lead Client Services Principal for Deloitte serving the Commonwealth of Kentucky including higher education and city governments as well. Kevin has been able to observe both Amanda and Evan in their current roles at Deloitte.

"We've been extremely pleased with both Amanda and Evan, along with the other UK MBA graduates that have been hired by Deloitte," says Kevin. "Deloitte has a lot of business needs currently, so we need folks that can hit the ground running and are passionate about learning. Amanda and Evan bring so much to the table, especially with their soft skills such as communication, presentation, critical thinking and attention to detail. Both are now in leadership positions. We frequently hear positive feedback from clients regarding their interactions with alum of the UK MBA program. They add so much value. I've been simply amazed how quickly they were able to do so."

Kevin, who also has his MBA, added, "From an employer's perspective, an MBA has value and we are very happy with how UK delivers its MBA program to their students. Most of our work here has a very heavy technology component at the core. At the same time, all of our work is approached from a business perspective to better serve the Commonwealth citizens. Gatton students bring unique, valuable skills to marry technology and business problem-solving. Although an MBA is not for everybody, I still believe it's a good investment in your future and especially in today's competitive job market."
