Resume Services
The resume is a "tool" to get an interview. It's your personal "marketing tool." A resume should be a "living" document that changes and evolves with one's experience and the position targeted.
The Career Center counselors will critique your resume and offer suggestions to emphasize your skills. They often know what companies are "looking for" on a resume.
For help starting your resume, visit the Career Center website or go to the Katherine Kemper Career Library at the Stuckert Career Center.
For Business and Economics resume critique, "drop in" hours are available in 235 Business and Economics building (times posted outside the office). For an appointment, contact Azetta Williams at 859.257.5348.
In addition, Drop-In Hours are offered Monday–Friday at the Stuckert Career Center from 3:00-5:00 p.m.
Practice Interviews
Practice makes perfect! A practice or "mock" interview is one of the most important things to do in your career planning. Companies state that potential employees often do not verbalize their skills and accomplishments well. The practice interview allows you to practice honing your interviewing skills by describing your accomplishments with a non-threatening counselor. It also gives you the chance to answer questions you may not be prepared for and receive constructive feedback from a counselor. "Mock" interviews are done in the Stuckert Career Center interview rooms. These interviews are recorded and critiqued for your professional development.
To schedule a practice interview, call the Career Center at 859.257.2746 to set up an appointment.
NOTES: Dress in business attire for the interview if possible. This will allow you to test your comfort level in a more "real" interview situation. If possible, email or drop off a copy of your resume prior to the interview.
