What is a Career Fair?

It is a formal gathering of companies to check out prospective employees. It’s a great opportunity to meet employers in a non intimidating setting and ask questions and make a great impression. It’s a great networking opportunity.

  • Be prepared to approach the employer
  • Be confident when you approach employers
  • Prepare your introduction
  • Dress professionally
  • Bring at least 25 resumes (Review the company listing to determine how many companies you plan to approach, then bring extras.)
  • Research employers
  • Target employers
  • Arrive early

Why Attend: Network, Network, Network

REMEMBER: FIRST IMPRESSIONS COUNT

  • Image is critical.
  • Appropriate attire supports your image.
  • Consider a briefcase instead of a backpack to store the items you collect and hand out. It provides a more professional look.
