Application to the program is through a two-step process:

  1. The applicant must be acceptable for admission by the University of Kentucky The Graduate School.

  2. Once this has been established, the applicant's credentials, including graduate and undergraduate gradepoint averages, Graduate Management Admissions Test (GMAT) scores, experience, and letters of recommendation will be evaluated for the applicant's potential for success in the program by the area Director of Graduate Studies (DGS) and an admission committee.

Students must declare a major area of interest before their credentials will be evaluated. Applicants are evaluated generally according to the following rules:

  • A minimum gradepoint average of 3.2 out of 4.0 is required on all previous graduate credits.
  • The GMAT must be taken before admission, reporting a minimum score of 500.

Each case is examined individually, however, and it must be noted that achievement of the minimum score does not guarantee admission.
