In their first year, students are offered research assistantships allowing them to work closely with a faculty member to gain first-hand exposure to accounting research. In their second through fourth years, students are offered teaching assistantships, assuming they are progressing satisfactorily. Depending on the student's experience, teaching and research assistantships offer approximately $12,000.
The Von Allmen School also offers an $8,000 fellowship for each year, assuming the student is making satisfactory progress. The Gatton College of Business and Economics and the University of Kentucky Graduate School offer several fellowships on a competitive basis. These may be used to replace assistantships and Von Allmen fellowships.
