In today's business world ROI is critical. It's your end product. It's what you get out of your hard labor and effort. It's what sets you apart from your competitors.

At the Gatton College of Business and Economics, your ROI is found in the hundreds of men and women we are preparing for successful business careers. Your investment in Gatton is an investment in a student who will make a difference in today's business world.

Students like Emily Pfeifer. And Matt Stone.

Cheerful with contagious energy, Emily Pfeifer battles cancer-2,500 cases of cancer, in fact. As co-founder and overall chairperson of Dance Blue, University of Kentucky 's dance marathon that raises funds for child cancer patients and their families, Emily has brought hope and inspiration for many dealing with cancer in the Bluegrass area. And as a business finance major and international business minor at Gatton, Emily has dealt with cancer both personally and as a family member. But that hasn't stopped her from wanting to give others support and encouragement who are also dealing with this devastating illness. "I knew I should be giving back," she explains. And in October 2004, she learned just how she could. Read more of Emily's story here.

As a sixth grader, Matt Stone schemed a clever business plan to sell gum in his school. "I realized the demand for it, but we had no supply. I would go to Sam's Club and buy boxes of Bubble Yum and sell it at school for a profit," he remembers. "This went on for a few months, and I had to buy more."

However, as his 'product' became popular among his classmates, teachers soon observed the increasing amount of sixth grade mouths that chomped with enthusiasm. Matt then realized that his business venture was too risky. "They figured out it was me...asked me to stop or I would be sent to detention...that was the end of my gum-selling days," he tells.

But fortunately for Matt, it wasn't the end of his days in business-it was only the beginning. This past June, Matt graduated with a master of business administration degree, which he completed in only 11 months, thanks to the Gatton's new immersive MBA program. Read more of Matt's story here.

Matt and Emily, and hundreds of students like them, are your ROI. This is what your investment produces.
