Scholarships

Scholarships allow the College to attract the best and brightest students and help students afford their education.

Scholarships can be endowed by a donor or made on an annual basis.

The following are examples of levels for endowed scholarships:

$50,000 – unrestricted named endowed scholarship.  This will provide $2,500 in annual support for a student or students at the College once fully endowed.  The fulfillment of a pledge can extend over five years.

$100,000 – restricted named endowed scholarship.  This will provide $5,000 annually and can be defined by the donor to target a particular region of the country to attract students or directed towards a particular major that a student may have.

Current annual scholarship support can be directed to any number of programs or priorities in the College including study abroad, merit, need-based, etc.

Endowed Professorships and Chairs

Professorships and Chairs allow the College to attract and retain the most accomplished faculty members in their fields.  Endowed faculty appointments are critical in allowing the Dean to build a faculty at the Gatton College that aspires to top 20 status among its competitors.

Minimum levels for endowing faculty positions:

$1,000,000 – Named endowed professorship.  This will provide $50,000 annually to support the research of a faculty member.

$2,500,000 – Named endowed Chair.  This will provide $125,000 to support a senior, distinguished professor.
