Joe's main research stream focuses on understanding interpersonal conflict from a social network perspective. This involves understanding how dyads in conflict within an organization are affected by third parties. Joe was a research fellow at Penn State's Center for Research on Conflict and Negotiation. Joe also does research on groups' social networks, as well as on how individuals' cognitions about organizational change and justice are affected by their network ties.
Joe's research has appeared in such outlets as the Academy of Management Journal, the Academy of Management Review, Organization Science, the Journal of World Business, Advances in Strategic Management, and the Journal of MIS. He has served on the editorial boards of the Academy of Management Journal and Organization Science.
Prior to joining the Gatton School faculty in 2006, Joe was on faculty at the Goizueta Business School at Emory University and the Freeman School of Business at Tulane University. He has taught undergraduate, MBA, Professional MBA, Executive MBA, and Ph.D.-level courses in conflict and negotiations, organization and management, organization theory and design, organizational behavior, human resources management, and organizational change management at Penn State, Tulane, Emory, and the University of Kentucky.
