Tamara Lambert from University of Massachusetts-Amherst  was our Humana Speaker Series Workshop presenter on November 9, 2012. She presented in BE 315.

Greg Waymire from Emory was our PhD Colloquium Speaker on October 5, 2012 at the Crowne Plaza Campbell House.

 

Happenings in the Von Allmen School of Accountancy:

Dr. Brian Bratten and Dr. Linda McDaniel's paper titled The audit of fair values and other estimates: The effects of underlying environmental, task, and auditor-specific factors (co-authored with Lisa Gaynor, Norma Montague, and Gregory Sierra), has been accepted for publication at Auditing: A Journal of Practice & Theory.

Dr. Brian Bratten and Dr. Monika Causholli's paper Fair Value Accounting and the Predictive Ability of Earnings: Evidence from the Banking Industry (with Urooj Khan) was accepted to be presented at the 23rd Annual Conference on Finance and Economics at USCs Marshall School of Business in November 2012.

Dr. Monika Causholli's paper titled Competitive Procurement of Auditing Services with Limited Information (co-authored with Robert Kenchel, Hajin Lin and David Sappington), has been accepted for publication at the European Accounting Review.

Dr. Linda McDaniel will serve as co-chair for the 2013 AAA Doctoral Consortium in Lake Tahoe, NV.

Dr. Dan Stone and Alumni Dr. Tim Miller's paper titled  The State of, and Prospects for, Forensic and Fraud Research that Matters, has been accepted for publication at Journal of Forensic and Investigative Accounting.

Dr. Dan Stone presented his paper (with Tim Miller and Alexi Nikitkov), Improvising Management Control: eBay and the Assimilation of Mundane Online Auction Deception at the University of Florida, Fisher School of Accounting.

 

2012 Von Allmen School of Accountancy Visiting Scholars

Jinghua Kan is a Professor of Accounting and the Associate Dean of the School of Accounting at Nanjing University of Finance & Economics in China. She earned her PhD from Nanjing University in 2009, and her research interests are auditing and corporate governance. Jinghua has published numerous articles in academic journals in China, including the following:
- Trend of Social Responsibility and Social Responsibility Standard Based on ISO 26000, Finance and Accounting for International Commerce (2011)
- Analysis on Information Disclosure and Questions of Corporate Social Responsibility, Journal of Nanjing University of Finance and Economics (2011)
- Research on Technology-enabled Continuous Auditing Model, China Business and Market (2009)
- Analysis and Comparison among Technical Implementation Models of Continuous Auditing under Information Technology, Science and Technology Management Research (2009)

Li Cai, a PhD candidate in the School of Accounting at Southwestern University of Finance and Economics in China. Ms. Cai studied for her B.S. in Accounting during 2003-2007 and M.S. in Accounting during 2007-2010, both at Southwestern University of Finance and Economics. Her research interests are auditing and financial accounting. She has published several articles in academic journals in China.

Bora Senyigit, PhD, is an assistant professor of accounting at Zirve University in Turkey. Dr.Senyigit  received his B.S. in Business Administration (2002)  and his M.S. in Accounting (2004)  from Istanbul University, Turkey.  In 2008, he earned his MBA degree from Ball State University, USA, and in 2010 his PhD in Accounting from Istanbul University, Turkey. Dr.Senyigit enjoys teaching financial accounting, managerial accounting, and auditing. His research interests focus on the globalization of accounting standards and the role of accounting information in capital markets.
