The CFA Institute Research Challenge is an annual global competition that provides students a unique opportunity to learn from leading industry experts and to compete with fellow students from other leading universities. The annual event nurtures best practices in equity research among the future analysts through active hands-on mentoring from current industry experts and intensive training in company analysis and presentation skills. Students work in teams to research and analyze a publicly traded company — typically meeting face-to-face with company management. The Research Challenge team writes a research report on the assigned company with a buy, sell, or hold recommendation and must present and defend their analysis to a panel of industry professionals.
The University of Kentucky competes in the CFA Society of Louisville region. The University of Kentucky team is consistently among the top teams in the region and has won the competition in 2012, 2014, and 2018. Each year, three to five students are chosen annually on the basis of faculty recommendations Please contact Will Gerken for more information. Below are links to previous year’s research reports.
